چکیده
This paper presents the AAected Set Priority Ceiling (ASPC) concurrency control protocol for real-time object-oriented databases. The protocol is based on a combination of a semantic locking technique and priority ceiling techniques. The paper speciies six criteria for real-time concurrency control: high concurrency, deadlock prevention, predictability, temporal consistency enforcement, logical consistency enforcement, and simplicity. It then demonstrates how previous semantic locking techniques and previous priority ceiling protocols each fail to meet several of these criteria, while the ASPC protocol meets all of them except for active temporal consistency support. An implementation, results from synthetic workload tests, and an analysis based on the six criteria are presented for the ASPC protocol.

Background and aims Shiftwork that affects diverse aspects of human life is arranged in various schedules, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. This study was carried out with the objectives of determination of common 12-hour shift schedules in petrochemical plants, comparison of shift work health-related problems among employees working in different shift schedules and recommendati...
متن کاملOn the Need for Dynamic Scheduling of Imaging Satellites
Imaging satellites are traditionally scheduled in a static fashion; namely the schedule is created off-line and then uploaded to one or more imaging satellites to be executed as an immutable sequence of commands. In this paper, we make the case for dynamic scheduling of imaging satellites. Dynamic schedules will allow satellite systems to take advantage of information gathered during the execut...
متن کاملOptimal migration schedules depend on the landscape and the physical environment: a dynamic modeling view
We developed a dynamic state variable model of individual migrating shorebirds for use in testing hypotheses about spring migration strategies of the Pectoral Sandpiper Calidris melanotos. We conducted model sensitivity analyses to determine how predicted migration schedules might vary with respect to the landscape and the physical environment. In landscapes with closely spaced, high-quality st...
متن کاملGeneration of optimal schedules for metro lines using model predictive control
This paper presents a new methodology for computation of optimal train schedules in metro lines using a linear-programming-based model predictive control formulation. The train tra5c model is comprised of dynamic equations describing the evolution of train headways and train passenger loads along the metro line, considering the time variation of the passenger demand and all relevant safety and ...
متن کاملRecent reinforcement-schedule research and applied behavior analysis.
Reinforcement schedules are considered in relation to applied behavior analysis by examining several recent laboratory experiments with humans and other animals. The experiments are drawn from three areas of contemporary schedule research: behavioral history effects on schedule performance, the role of instructions in schedule performance of humans, and dynamic schedules of reinforcement. All o...
متن کاملOptimal Sampling Schedules for Minimum Latency Routing on a Dynamic Network with Imperfect Link State
Since dynamic wireless networks evolve over time, optimal routing computations need to be performed frequently on time-varying network topologies. However, it is often infeasible or expensive to gather the current state of links for the entire network all the time. We provide a thorough analytical characterization of the effect of various link-state sampling strategies operating under a limited...
